Château la Tour du Pin Figeac 2001
70% Merlot
30% Cabernet Franc
Geographically the vineyard is situated between Château Figeac and Château Cheval Blanc from which it is separated by the road leading from Saint-Emilion to Pomerol. The vineyard comprising 8 hectares of gravel and sandy subsoil, is in a remarkably sunny position. Harvesting is by hand, and the grapes are sorted again by hand before traditional fermentation for about 3 weeks in stainless steel vats. The wine is then aged in oak barrels for a further 18 months before bottling.

- Beautiful garnet-red hue
- On the nose, elegant, subtle, lightly smoked, slightly woody, fruity with hints of morello cherry and delicate menthol notes
- On the palate, supple, delicate and elegant
Overall a very elegant wine

An excellent wine to lay down, but equally good to consume now with steak 'tournedos', veal, duck breast or roast dishes…
