Côtes de Castillon

Situated in between the area of St. Emilion and the departments of the Dordogne and the Gironde, Côtes de Castillon produces excellent quality, and excellent value-for-money Bordeaux Supérieur.

The area is known as the place where the English lost countrol of Bordeaux. Through royal marriages, Aquitania became a very 'English' province, resulting in increased interest from the French kings. Conflict resulted in the shape of the 100 years' war. The battle of Castillon, and the death of General Talbot, leader of the English troops, brought an end to the troubles and the domintation of the English.

Nowadays the region is well known for its concentrated, fruity wines, typified by strong blackcurrant notes. We work with Jean-Michel Moueix, the St. Emilion producer, who recognises the potential of the area, and believes the wine in terms of its style and price complements his St. Emilion and Pomerol wines.

Beauregard de Lucie is produced from vineyares situated in the Côtes de Castillon commune of St. Genes de Castillon. The area is approximately 10 hectares and produces about 520 hectolitres (52,000 litres) of wine. The slopes have a north-east aspect and are clay with a clay/chalk subsoil.
