France Uncorked Clos Beauregard

Clos Beauregard

Red

Clos Beauregard AOC Pomerol
Clos Beauregard 2001
60% Merlot
30% Cabernet Franc
10% Cabernet Sauvignon

Neighbouring the celebrated Chateau La Conseillante and Chateau Beauregard, the 'terroir' of Clos Beauregard is typical of the south-east sector of Pomerol: 'old' sand on iron-stone. The 5 hectares of Clos Beauregard, acquired by the Moueix family in 1935, are located on the southern border of Chateau Beauregard, to which it once belonged. The grape combination of 60% Merlot, 30% Cabernet Franc and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon is unusual. Harvesting is by hand, followed by traditional vinification: maceration for 3 - 4 weeks depending on the year, and then conditioning and maturation in oak barrel.

Jean-Michel's notes
