France Uncorked Medoc vines

Chateau le Temple

The Bergey family

Medoc barrelsChateau le Temple has been in the Bergey family for 3 generations. The grandfather of Denis and Jean-Pierre bought the property back in 1933, when he was won over by its sense of history and the quality wine it produced.

The vineyard extends to 18 hectares and is situated on a ridge of Garonne gravel with a subsoil of 'alios' or 'crasse de fer' containing iron oxide. The vines are attractively laid out around the great chateau, and comprise 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Merlot and 5% Petit Verdot.

Château Breuilh at BégadanThe grapes are vinified in stainless steel vats, with a lengthy maceration time. The wine spends 12 months in oak barrels and is kept 18 to 20 months before being bottled.

In addition to Château le Temple, Château Breuilh at Bégadan also belongs to the Bergeys. It comprises about 4.5 hectares and is planted with 50% Merlot noir and 50% Cabernet Sauvignon.

The Château was built in 1877 by the Bergeys' great- great-grandfather.
