Chateau de Bonhoste
Chateau de Bonhoste, with its 44 hectares of vineyards, extends over
the hillsides overlooking the Dordogne, 45 km from Bordeaux and 6 km
south of St. Emilion. Its clay-chalk soil is blessed with vines which
produce the most beautiful, harmonious Bordeaux wines: 70% Merlot, 20%
Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Cabernet Franc for the reds; 55% Sémillon,
40% Sauvignon, and 5% Muscadelle for the whites. Chateau de Bonhoste
cultivates its vines using traditional methods, with restrained yield,
and controlled ripening to preserve the authenticity of production, as
well as allowing the characteristics of the 'terroir' to come through.
The work is skilled and meticulous, based on the great tradition of
Bordeaux wine-making. All of this is further enhanced by the wonderful,
underground cellars where the wine is stored for several months in bottle
before being labelled prior to delivery.
