About France Uncorked
Simon Trevor has extensive experience in the Scotch whisky business, exporting and marketing The Famous Grouse and The Macallan scotch whiskies. A move from Scotland to Bordeaux, France at the end of 2004, convinced him that there were many fantastic wines, which were consumed by the locals, but unknown outside France. He decided to use his whisky industry experience, to work with the producers to market their products in export territories.
France Uncorked was set up at the beginning 2005 as a means of developing relationships with distributors in export markets. We look for long term relationships with one or two distributors in each territory depending on the dynamics.
Our wines have been hand-picked for their quality and customer service; we aim to offer some well-known wines as well as some ‘hidden gems’. We have limited our range, in order to develop brands, rather than offering a huge portfolio of wines, many of which could be unknown to us.
The prices of the wines and spirits are attractive, because our producers are all family concerns where marketing, sales, production are all the remit of the owner. They do not have the usual expensive overheads of the bigger organisations. France Uncorked is also able to combine the requirements of different buyers, in various territories, and negotiate a favourable price due to the larger volume.
Most importantly we aim to work together with producers and suppliers to form a cohesive marketing unit, in order to achieve maximum success in all territories.
